Collision Push

Growing one object can politely move its neighbors.

Best experienced with a pointer.

The problem

Resizing a block overlaps siblings, burying content and forcing manual cleanup.

The solution

Collision resolution nudges peers aside to preserve minimum gaps.

How it works

  • The primary object is resized or moved first.
  • Overlap with neighboring objects is detected after that change.
  • A push vector is computed for each overlap, along the direction that clears it.
  • Neighbors shift by those vectors until the gap is clear.
  • A minimum spacing is preserved so objects do not end up touching.

Slide editors

Growing a shape nudges nearby text boxes instead of covering them.

Whiteboard frames

Expanding a frame pushes sticky notes out of the way with spacing.

Form builders

Taller fields push subsequent fields down to keep a clean column.

UI builders

Auto-layout containers resolve collisions when one child grows.
