Dragging without a clear insertion indicator makes drop position guesswork, causing mis-ordered blocks and undo thrash.
The solution
A horizontal drop cursor tracks the nearest valid insertion gap while dragging.

How it works
- A drag over the document starts looking for an insertion gap, not a block to replace.
- Hit testing runs between blocks.
- A horizontal drop line shows the landing spot.
- The line updates as the pointer moves so the preview matches the release point.
- Drop inserts the content at that gap.
