Menu Selection Blink
A quick blink confirms the click before the menu disappears.
The problem
Most web menus close on the same frame as the click, so you never see which item registered — especially on a mis-click.
The solution
The selected item blinks once (~90ms off, ~90ms on) before the menu closes.
Experiment
Play with the values
90ms
How it works
- The click selects an item, but the menu is about to disappear.
- The highlight clears briefly so the blink has a visible off state.
- The highlight returns, which is the confirmation the user can see.
- One short cycle — off, then on — is enough; it does not wait on a toast.
- The menu closes after that cycle, so the click is acknowledged before the surface is gone.
