Momentum Cancellation
A new touch can stop scroll that was still gliding.
The problem
Inertial scroll keeps gliding after a flick, so a new touch to reverse or stop feels ignored until friction finishes.
The solution
Touch-down immediately kills momentum so the user regains control.

How it works
- A flick releases with velocity, and the scroll keeps gliding after the finger lifts.
- That glide decays over time instead of stopping instantly.
- A new pointer down means the user wants control back.
- Momentum is zeroed immediately on that touch.
- Further movement follows the finger directly.

Mobile lists
Touching mid-glide stops the list so the user can reverse or tap.
Photo carousels
A second touch kills coasting so the next swipe starts clean.
Maps
Finger-down during inertial pan freezes the map under the hand.
Custom scroll views
JS-driven inertia mimics native cancel-on-touch behavior.
