Gap Cursor
You can place a caret between blocks.
The problem
Between atomic blocks there is nowhere for a caret to land, so users cannot insert content in the gap without awkward workarounds.
The solution
Gap cursor hit targets let users place insertion points between blocks.

How it works
- A click in the space between blocks is a placement, not a miss.
- The nearest block edge is computed so the insertion point is unambiguous.
- A gap caret is shown in that space.
- Typing or paste is accepted there, even though no block was hit.
- The new block is inserted at the gap rather than appended to the end.
